Sweet boy

I post a lot about how active and busy Frankie is, but when he is not running around or climbing on things, he seems to be getting more sweet and cuddly lately.  He loves to give hugs and kisses, and he even likes to cuddle sometimes now.  I hope my little man stays in this sweet phase forever!  He is getting big too fast. 

Monte's first steps!

A mere 47 days after Monte lost both of his legs and his left arm in an IED explosion, he took his first steps on prosthetic legs.  Monte is breaking recovery records left and right, and he inspires everyone around him with his strength, perseverance, and positive attitude.  We are so proud of him!!!  Please continue to share his story with everyone you know www.montebernardo.org.  Additionally, if you would like to donate to his recovery, please go to www.montebernardo.org/donations. 

Frontiers of flight museum

We had a wonderful weekend, spending a lot of time together as a family.  On Saturday we checked out the Frontiers of Flight museum at Love Field, and Frankie LOVED it!  It really was such a neat museum, and he loved looking at all of the airplanes.  He loved it so much that I am thinking about throwing his birthday party there.  They had a really neat kids' area with a bounce house and other structures for kids to climb and play.  Frankie had a blast playing with the big kids.  He loved being able to go on the planes, and he would have stayed there all day if we let him.  This museum is part of a program that allows active military families to go for free, so that was an added bonus.  Here are some pictures from our trip to the museum.

Some cute Frank-isms

Frank is saying some of the cutest things these days.  Here are some of my favorites:

Fraaaannnnnnnk!  (He says this and smiles when he does something wrong).

Foot phone, Grambo! (or Nana, Papa, Allison, Tyler, Lindsey..a game Frank plays with him when changing his diaper).

Uno, dos

Frank has been counting in English for awhile now, but in the last few weeks he has also started counting in Spanish.  He loves to say the first few words of a song and then say, "Mama, sing it!"  And he started saying "Uno, dos," "Mama!"  So I wonder if they are teaching him a Spanish counting song at school?  He amazes me with all of the new things he learns each and every day.  His favorite songs these days are:  Old McDonald, One, two buckle my shoe, Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, Bingo, and Itsy Bitsy Spider. 

The new day care is going really well.  He is still upset when we drop him off most days, but he is always really happy when we pick him up, and he seems to be thriving and learning.  He will stay in this class until he turns two and then he will graduate to the next class.  I think we will start really working on potty training at that point.  He has most of the readiness signs, and we take him to the potty when he asks to go, and he has gone a few times.  But I don't want to push it, especially when they are not prepared to work with him at school yet.

Monte lost both legs and his left hand in an IED explosion in Afghanistan on July 4, 2012. Monte is a sergeant in the U.S. Army, and he was serving his second tour in Afghanistan when he was injured.
