After my trial ended last week, we headed to San Antonio for a nice little three-day end of summer getaway. We stayed at the JW Marriott, and it was a gorgeous hotel. I wish it was a little smaller, because it was crazy crowded the day we arrived and it was not nearly as enjoyable as the next two days when there were far fewer people. The hotel has an insane military discount, which was an added bonus. The first and third days we were there we enjoyed the amazing water complex at the hotel, which included a toddler pool with splash pad features and two slides that Lily LOVED. She rode the slides over and over and over. We all enjoyed the lazy river and big main pool, and Frankie and Frank rode the big water tube slides at least 50 times. Stella and Erik met us for dinner at the hotel on Saturday night, and it was perfect. After dinner they had a bunch of bounce houses set out in a grassy area in front of the hotel, so we all chatted while the kids ran wild. We were very sad that we missed the smores, but otherwise we were very happy with the hotel. I think my favorite part was the starbucks.
On Sunday we headed to Sea World! Frankie is very into sea creatures, sharks, and alligators right now, so we were so excited to take him there. Again, Sea World has an insane military discount program (FREE tickets for up to four people), so we had to take advantage of it. We were a little underwhelmed by Sea World. After being beyond impressed with Disneyland, I thought Sea World was a bit of a letdown. Also, I had built it up to Frankie like one giant aquarium, and he was disappointed that we didn't get to see many sea creatures, including sharks. BUT, despite all of that, we still had a great day. Frankie was big enough to ride several of the rides, including the splash mountain type roller coaster which he rode twice (once with Daddy and once with me). He LOVED it. We also rode a river rapid ride where we both got soaking wet! We saw the killer whale show and the sea lion show, but by about 4:00 the kids were wiped out. They fell asleep before we even made it out of the Sea World parking lot. We drove around for awhile and then stopped at Rudy's for a delicious bbq dinner. It was a nice family trip, and a good way to finish out our summer.
